Veterans coming back from Iraq, Afghanistan, and other worldwide deployments with little to no plans to transition from military to civilian life as their military contracts expire. This is due to a lack of family, family resources, high divorce rates, or family or life structure. Left many service members homeless or unhoused.

A large portion of these men and women are suffering from mental health issues such as PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Because of these causes and several other issues, Many veterans are finding themselves homeless or simply unhoused.

Another major issue is that military personnel with specialized skills do not easily translate into the civilian job market, leading to underemployment, low income, and poverty, and thus homelessness. Military culture views asking for help as a sign of weakness, which can cause veterans to delay or refuse assistance.
